In luweero district, 16 year old , Amin Kabwiire dropped out of school after unplanned pregnancy during the COVID-19 lockdown "There was no one to guide me," she says ,Like many rural Ugandan girls .Amin , had no access to sexual and reproductive Health and Rights information,
Midwife Betty Kateera sees similar cases weekly ,They come scared, late and un-informed ," she says with limited health services, cultural taboos and poverty, girls faces serious risks.
To address this Luweero Online Radio launched the " my Body, my Right" campaign broadcasting SRHR programs, talk shows, and community interviews.
" We use local language,solar radios,and drama to reach villages" says Youth Host , Nabakooza Rebecca
Local leader Moses Wamala , LC1 chairperson kikyusa , church zone supports the effort ," we must stop pretending our children information not silence"
Despite growing awareness, many heath centers Lack friendly heath services, " we need policy action "says Campaign co-ordinator Nakayenga Sarah.
Amin now hopes her story prevents others from following the same path " Let girls know their rights , gives them choices. Her dream was to become a nurse now she cares for her child un-sure if she will ever return back to class
