The kyabazinga of Busoga,His Royal Highness William Gabula Nadiope IV,has directed all Ministers in the kingdom's cabinet who intend to contest in the 2026 general election to resign by April 30 ,2025.
The directive, delivered to though the kingdom's prime minister (katuukiro),Dr Joseph Muvawala ,seeks to uphold the non-partisan nature of Obwa-kyabazinga bwa Busoga and preserve unity among it's subjects.
In a press release dated April 7 .Dr. Muvawala reaffirmed the kingdom's stance on political neautrality.
"The Obwa kyabazinga is a cultural institution that brings together all people within it's jurisdiction, regardless of political ideologies of beliefs.."while acknowledging that participation in national politics is a right of every Ugandan , Muvawala emphasized that individuals holding positions in the kingdom's leadership must abstain from partisan engagement while still in. Office.
The directive has stirred conversation across Busoga,where the kingdom's cabinet has historically included politically active figures examples include; David Isabirye Aga .MP jinja Noth ,James mukembo ,third prime minister Rebecca kadaga et.c
Recently kadaaga voiced displeasure with the kingdom accussing it of siding with her. Political rivals ,she claimed betrayal by the very institution" I worked so much to make Gabula the kyabazinga of Busoga because president museveni didn't like him."
So sources indicates the kingdom suggest kadaga's remark may have influenced the the kyabazinga's directive,amisd growing concern about cultural institution's political learning.
